Taiwan -> TAIPEI -> Lungshan Temple
Lungshan Temple    TAIPEI, Taipei County

Lungshan Temple, built in 1738, is not the largest temple in Taipei, but definitely has its own energy. The temple's history goes that an amulet of Guanyin (goddess of mercy) was left hanging on a tree. The amulet shone so brightly, even at night, that people knew the spot was blessed. The present day temple sits on this spot. The stones lining the courtyard are ballast from the ships that brought the original Fujian immigrants across the Taiwan Straits. Though Guanyin is the main deity, the temple is multidenominational.
