The Taipei 101 building, formally the Taipei International Financial Center 101, was the world's tallest building in 2003. It's shaped like a giant bamboo stalk and boasts the world's fastest elevator. It takes four seconds to reach the 89th floor observation deck, while traveling 3,313ft (1,10m) per minute. The lower floors are taken up by offices, banks, restaurants, and shopping malls. Grab a meal at the excellent food court in the basement.
